I appreciate this question. I do have the same idea. You've made valid point. Although I'm not qualified to answer this like a Darwinian scientist, I can say the origin of life is just a theory - umption - a guess. Generally people tend to take evolution is truth(?) but it's not proven so scientists are trying to do that. But they can safely say - we are indeed evolving genetically - color, shape, race, etc. although we don't become a different type of creatures. So scientists are also trying to solve the origin of mankind.
