Should I buy matele, quilt, blanket, comforter?

I am looking for something to have folded on the end of my bed. I currently have a comforter that is an Asian floral print with a shiny finish. A rich red is the main color. What can I add at the foot of the bed to make it look "done"? I have been looking online at matele, but I have never seen it in person, so am not sure if this is something that would work. Thanks for your input.
